Unique, powerful engine

A dual-stage control, bi-turbo charged 120kW diesel engine, the Volkswagen utilities' TDI400 common rail engine develops a remarkably powerful torque of 400 Newton metres at a low 1,500 rpm.

This means that the VW Amarok provides sufficient propulsion for all possible situations while consuming less than 8 litres of diesel per 100 km, meaning that the new VW utes provide fuel economy and emission values that set a new benchmark for the class.

Off-road capabilities

Paired with the Volkswagen utilities' turbocharged engines are significant off-road capabilities in the 4MOTION driveline models. Featuring either switchable or full-time all-wheel drive, the Amarok is tailored for all terrain.

The VW utes featuring switchable all-wheel drive can be engaged with the push of a button, producing rigid power transfer between axles. Low off-road gearing is also provided, meaning that the VW utes can tackle complicated off-road passages. The Amarok can even conquer 100 per cent gradients with full cargo loading.

Full-time all-wheel drive models have differential distribution drive forces at a 40:60 ratio to the front and rear axles, simultaneously assuring both excellent vehicle dynamics and high traction. The full-time all-wheel drive VW utes also feature selective braking interventions for tough terrain, ensuring that the wheel with the best traction gest the most engine power.

The Amarok also comes in a rear-wheel drive, designed for customers interested in taking advantage of the largest-in-class cargo and cabin space and fuel economy primarily on paved roads.

All three versions of the Volkswagen utilities come with Electronic Rear Differential Lock (EDL) to prevent wheel spinning on one side of the vehicle.

Comfortable for drivers

Exceptional interior dimensions make the VW utes the most spacious in their class. Amarok drivers are provided with easy entry via wide-opening doors and a front seat height of just 83.8 centimetres.

VW utes also feature a generous seating layout and plenty of head room behind the wheel. The VW utes' height-adjustable seats also deliver maximum comfort and ergonomic properties. The largest longitudinal seat adjustment range in the class guarantees comfort and safety for drivers of all size.

German practicality and styling is evident in Volkswagen utilities, with two round instruments and an easy-to-read digital display, designed for clear viewing and stylish looks, providing information on vehicle and engine speed.

As specialists in this brand, Burwin Volkswagen recognises the need for comfortable vehicles which is why we stock the latest models.

Space for passengers

Even on the rear bench, the VW utes' impressive wheelbase of 3.095 metres ensures ample leg room for adult passengers in the front and back, making the Amarok dual cab a fully-fledged five-seater.

The compact transmission tunnel also assures sufficient foot room for the passenger on the middle rear seat. To optimise storage space within the cab, the seats can be folded up with a 1/3 to 2/3 split. The VW utes' seatbacks can also be folded.

Standard features in these Volkswagen utilities start with:

  • climatic air-conditioning
  • folding rear bench seats
  • locking glove boxes
  • load area lighting

Amarok Treadline equipment features a multi-functional display, cruise control and front fog lights, while the Highline includes colour contrasting instrument panel (depending on vehicle configuration), an automatic climate control system, a higher performance sound system and high-quality fabric seat covers.

First-in-class Safety

The VW Amarok is also best-in-class for safety; the Amarok is officially the first in its class to be awarded a 5 Star rating by ANCAP, making it the safest dual-cab ute in Australia.

Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with Brake Assist is standard equipment. These Volkswagen utilities also feature electronic differential locks (EDL), antislip regulation (ASR) and anti-lock braking system (ABS)-all tuned for challenging off-road conditions.

Along with driver and front passenger airbags, the Amarok features head/thorax airbags-still rare in the segment. The cockpit offers good all-around visibility, making it easy to manoeuvre the 1.94 metre wide VW utes off-road and in city traffic.

The Amarok's front seats have specially-designed head restraints to counteract whiplash trauma, along with belt tensioners and, on the driver's side, a visual and acoustic belt warning system. All seating positions in the VW utes have height-adjustable head restraints and three-point safety belts.
